Transit – between reality and fiction … In our world full of media influence, we are confronted by a mass of images every day. Human communication is based upon copying and imitating. How does one see oneself and what do photographs represent? »Fictional copies« examines the influence of images on the development of identity, presentation of the self and the coexistence of human beings.

The audience members find themselves on stage together with the performers, surrounded by cameras and spotlights. The floor is covered with photographs and still more fall from the ceiling. In a series of ironic-comic scenes, one’s own images are alienated and reproducibility through media is thrown into question.

Björn Säfsten, born in 1981 in Stockholm, is dancer and choreographer. He created pieces for the Skånes Dansteater, Malmö, and the Cullberg Ballet, Stockholm. Through his own ensemble he has realised ten performances so far and received the Dansens Hus award 2007 for »In trembling space« and the Cullberg award 2009.
