Transit – between this world and the other side … Darkness lies over the world. Fog and rolls of thunder create a mythical atmosphere. A living being slowly creeps into the space, born from the earth. Archaic landscapes show the development of this creature through to the end of its life. It’s a dialogue with the other side as a new beginning and a suggestive cycle of nature.

»Duineser Elegien« (»Duino Elegies«) by Rainer Maria Rilke, a collection of ten elegies written between 1912 and 1922 and published in Leipzig for the first time in 1923, serves as inspiration for »Élégie«. They describe the contradictions of human existence in a poetic exchange of lament and praise, rising and falling, life and death. »Élégie« is one of the most unusual pieces of choreography made in France in recent times.

Ballet national de Marseille, founded by Roland Petit in 1972, is one of the leading companies in France. It has 28 dancers and offers guest performances throughout the entire world. Its repertoire includes pieces by a wide variety of choreographers and is very diverse aesthetically. Olivier Dubois, born in 1972 in Colmar, is a dancer and choreographer. Intense, powerful and unconventional, his pieces evoke many different opinions. Dubois has served as the director of the Centre chorégraphique national de Roubaix Nord-Pas de Calais since 2014.
