Still waters run deep
Kritikrunde
Der Taumel auf der Theaterbühne und anderswo
Sat. 08 Nov. // 02.30 – about 04.00 p.m.
Festival café at Telegraph
Calm water can be both idyllic and, at the same time, eerie and frightening. Our existence is determined by overplayed uncertainties, tensely safeguarding the pretence of beauty and the increasingly hectic search for purpose in life. This year’s euro-scene Leipzig aims to sensitise the audience to its floundering and provide courage to admit weakness.
Four journalists who are known all over Germany will be discussing the term floundering both in the full sense of the word and view of the guest performances at the 2008 festival. Starting with Josef Nadj, who gave his piece »Woyzeck« the subtitle »The hint of vertigo«, questions of scenery and execution by the various directors and choreographers will be discussed with all their cultural and aesthetic differences. The audience is specifically invited to express open opinions.
