»Seven years after the end of the war. I decided, I want to go to Sarajevo, to Bosnia, to Kosovo. Don’t ask me why. I’m just not the kind of chick to spend her spring break on a beach in Ibiza. Sorry.«

Tourism and sex in a region where the scars of war have left their mark. Kate Pendry does without all the technical heavy artillery from films and videos and relies entirely on her stage presence and her voice in her monologue »Sex in the Warzone« (in Norwegian »Sex i Krigsonen«). The imagination conjures up the siege of the beautiful city of Sarajevo, known for its museums, churches, mosques and cafés. Journalists and business people looking for adventure and money in the post-war period are now living where soldiers once stayed. With a Canadian man, Kate embarks on the journey into the past only to end up experiencing the loneliness of togetherness in a cheap hotel – sex as a metaphor for hopelessness.

Kate Pendry, born in London in 1965, has been living in Oslo for several years. She completed formal theatre training in Great Britain and works in various fields as an actress, performer and as a visual artist. She created numerous instalments and works of art on topics related to politics and sexuality. »Sex in the Warzone« has been invited to several cities, including Bergen, Frederikstad, Belgrade and to the Kaaitheater in Brussels.

In englischer Sprache. Eine deutsche Übersetzung ist erhältlich.
