    Shadow theatre

The Divadlo (theatre) Líšeň was founded in 1998 by Pavla Dombrovská and Luděk Vémola in the city of Brno in the Czech Republic. The ensemble is one of the leading children’s and puppet theatres in the Czech Republic and often gives guest performances abroad.

Princess Sávitrí has many admirers, but she is in love with Prince Satiaván. Although his father is poor because he has lost his kingdom, she does not want to marry anyone other than Satiaván. A fortune teller predicts the imminent death of the prince, but Sávitrí remains true to him. This allows her to beat death and lead a long and happy life with her lover.

»Searching for traces« with Divadlo Líšeň – »Sávitrí«, which premiered in 1999, is a masterful, colourful piece of shadow puppet theatre that uses variations of oriental puppets. It numbers among the best pieces of Czech puppet theatre in the last decade and has received numerous awards. »Sávitrí« is based upon an Indian legend.
