    Tanzstück nach Witold Gombrowicz

We try to be unique individuals. However, everything we are is the result of contact with other people. Pressures everywhere, at all times. Wanting to escape from this would have the immediate effect of deciding to give up being human. Every meeting between people, every relationship creates life. A woman and two men meet in a white room and reveal the ambivalent relationship between the sexes, of which the emptiness remains to be filled individually.

The piece, »Kilka Blyskotliwych Spostrzezen« (»Several Witty Observations«), is based on the philosophy of the diaries of Polish author Witold Gombrowicz (1904-69). The Teatr Dada von Bzdülöw has several times dealt with topics by this author, who today is still both controversial and celebrated, who went against all conventions both in content and method, and who created his own grotesque language. Gombrowicz emigrated to Argentina in 1939 but came back to Europe after the war and later lived in Southern France. His best known works include the novel »Ferdydurke« (1938) and the play »Iwone Ksiezniczka Burgunda« (»Yvonne, Princess of Burgundy«, 1958).

The Teatr Dada von Bzdülöw, founded by Leszek Bzdyl in 1993, was one of the most modern theatres in Poland. Bzdyl, born in Wrocław in 1964, worked as a dancer, pantomime, choreographer and lecturer. Katarzyna Chmielewska studied classical dance and also passed through the famous P.A.R.T.S. training centre in Brussels. Rafal Dziemidok works often with visual artists and musicians, as both a dancer and choreographer. Since 2000, the Teatr Dada von Bzdülöw has also organised the annual Gdansk Dance Corporation dance festival. The company made a guest appearance at the euro-scene Leipzig 2001 with »Drop Dead Gorgeous«, a co-production with the Vincent Dance Theatre, Sheffield.
