Children’s play
Let’s enter an enchanted world together … An idyllic garden changes in the course of the four seasons. Gaia and Aprile, the two guardians of the garden, lead the little guests on a journey through spring, summer, autumn and winter. Butterflies, small trees, flowers, water mirrors, magic eggs and flying fish are passed on to the children through the hands of the performers.
Music and singing contribute to the welcoming atmosphere of the play, in which children and parents are involved at the same time. Each little audience member sits on their own cushion in the middle of the scene, with the adults behind them on chairs and very close by. The children are encouraged to participate actively and are poetically made to think about nature.
Teatro Pan was founded in 1975 in Lugano and is mainly dedicated to theater for children and young people. It creates its own productions and organizes various festivals, such as FIT – Festival Internazionale del Teatro, Lugano, and educational theater projects in schools. Marcello Chiarenza, the author of the play “Il giardino di Gaia” (“Gaia’s Garden”), was born in 1955 in Ramacca / Sicily, writes texts, directs and designs stage sets. Teatro Pan received numerous awards, such as in 2011 for “Il giardino di Gaia” the Priz molodoj kritiki “Drugoj vsgljad” (Youth Critics Award “Other View”) at the King Festival in Veliky Novgorod / Russia.
