A truly improbable story

For three days the ghost came visiting, devilish shrewd and capable to walk through walls. This mischievous spirit revealed himself to Phelim McDermott, in his parent’s house at 70 Hill Lane, at the age of 15. Only Phelim and his best friend Karl saw this poltergeist who threw things all around him and whom the two boys nicknamed »Polty«. The ghost left and the memories of a haunted, spooky childhood world remained, those incredible events however not lacking the elements of truth at all.

»Animo«, contrary to «70 Hill lane«, has no script at all and is created directly in front of the audience. Through an amazing co-ordination of incredible actors a cheerful and extremely original performance is concocted by means of improvisation, playing with dolls, objects and paper.

London is alongside Paris Europe’s leading theatre centre and it was in London with its about 100 daily performing stages of every shade where the discovery of a still young Improbable Theatre in Clapham Junction was a real stroke of luck. For Phelim McDermott, now working for ten years as an actor and director and as such honoured with many awards, it is the first time he plays abroad with the, founded by him, Improbable Theatre.
