Conscienza di terrore (Conscience of terror)

The dance scene in Luxembourg has undergone constant development in recent years. The Centre de Création Chorégraphique Luxembourgeois / TROIS C-L has played a decisive role in this. Bernard Baumgarten and Sylvia Camarda are among the best-known choreographers of this country.

Festivals – Luxusartikel oder städtischer Motor (Festivals – luxury item or engine of the city)

Festivals connect the local culture of a city to the outside world. They are indispensable for the cultural dissemination and innovation of the city community.

L’eclisse (The eclipse of the sun)

The incapacity for love and the lack of contact of the modern person are the topics of the film »L’eclisse« (»The eclipse of the sun«), which is set in the suburbs of Rome.

Auf Spitze und flacher Sohle (On a point and a flat sole)

The Cullberg Ballet was founded in 1967 by Birgit Cullberg and run by her son Mats Ek from 1985-93. At that time, it made guest appearances all over the world with highly innovative versions of feature-length classics and multipart features.

Hamlet – ein modernes Drama (Hamlet – a modern drama)

»Hamlet« is perhaps the most fascinating piece by William Shakespeare. This event centres on video excerpts from productions and films making up the pioneering and most individual story of the interpretation of the drama.

Nuit sur le monde (Night on the world)

Suggestive images full of nuances characterise the dance piece by Nicole Mossoux and Patrick Bonté with music by Victor Kissine. The three parts stand for past, present and future and ask for real community.

Katagraphie (Catagraphy)

Author, director and choreographer Jo Fabian will devote his attention to the practical realisation of the term catagraphy – the transformation of content (text) into movement (dance). There are many types of catagraphy.

Das beste deutsche Tanzsolo (Best German dance solo)

Approximately 20 solo performances of 5 minutes length on the legendary round table. All boundaries between artists and audience, professionals and non-professionals are lifted.

Polka Dot. ein stilleben (Polka Dot. a still life)

This absurd dance-theatre play by Joe Fabian leads into the wishful thinking of a couple between real life and second life. Performed by Annegret Thiemann, Matthias Horn and the Luxembourg musician Cyberpiper.

Hamletas (Hamlet)

In the intimacy of a theatre dressing room, ten actors pose questions about their own existence to their mirror image. The Europe-wide known Oskaras Koršunovas staged the probably most fascinating piece by William Shakespeare up-to-date and full of intoxicating energy while preserving the original.

Imagine-toi (Imagine)

Following its big success at the euro-scene Leipzig 2007, this solo can be experienced once more: Julien Cottereau, captivating performer and long-time soloist at the world-famous Cirque du Soleil, enchants the young and the young at heart without words.

On my skin

A humorous dance piece about the phenomenon of human skin and a theatre dance play about terrorism show the aesthetic and topical complexity of the dance scene in Luxembourg

Staliza around (Capital around)

Two young men are stuck together on the underground. Their conversation develops to a play full of surprises. Sara Tokina staged the theatre play by Sergej Girgel as a humorous parable on Belarusian society.

Ruhe (Repose)

Based on songs by Franz Schubert and texts by former members of the SS, a staggering musical theatre play was created. Josse De Pauw, one of the most important directors in Belgium, created it with the famous a capella choir Collegium Vocale Gent and the two actors Carly Wijs and Dirk Roofthooft.

The Swiss artists Cristina Galbiati and Ilija Luginbühl created this enchanting installation based on the fairy tale of »Hansel and Gretel«. All alone, one goes through the »forest« and miraculously finds to one's own memories.

I did once a piece

The Tanzquartier Wien opened in 2001 and has been managed by Sigrid Gareis until June 2009. She has given Austrian contemporary dance an international format. The most prominent representatives of a radical script include Philipp Gehmacher and Milli Bitterli.

Will you ever be happy again?

A small fascinating dance play of European dimension. Twenty years after reunification the Serbian Sanja Mitrović, together with the German performer Jochen Stechmann, draws multi-focus comparisons between both nations.

Point of eclipse

The Cullberg Ballet, one of the best known European dance ensembles, presents a brilliant play of the Swedish choreographer Johan Inger. In a modern ballet language and with the futuristic music of Jean-Louis Huhta 15 dancers give themselves over to the event of a solar eclipse.
