Windows open in a wall, chunks of bodies appear. A city's council flats – or an internal people's conflict? In the poorer parts of town it's all about alcohol, violence, sex and drugs but hidden behind them are dreams and illusions. This existence consists of fear and pain, the craving yearning for a way of life that fossilises itself behind a facade of wealth in boredom and senseless idleness.

Die Nase (The nose)

The nose suddenly disappears from Major Kovaljov's face and then reappears in the shape of a state councillor. His own »nose« has by far more power than he has himself and does not seem to know him any more. Curiosity and fear grows among the people of St. Petersburg: Kovaljov's nose, so they say, has been seen in the city. Something sinister, satanic is spreading like a disease that can only be controlled through terror by a blundering police force.

Bernadetje

Rock music booms, neon lights flash, bumper cars zoom about. Kermis in Las Vegas, the louder and garish it gets, the less one talks, a seemingly endless state of euphoria. Then, suddenly: silence and a slow aria by Bach. The steering handle provides support and looks like a cross, the car turns into Noah's ark, safely guiding the people to their destinations.

»The old woman« by Daniil Charms is a blend of absurd novel and detective story. Charms was born 1905 in St. Petersburg and is considered the Russian Kafka and classic of modern black humour.

Animo

»Animo«, contrary to «70 Hill lane«, has no script at all and is created directly in front of the audience. Through an amazing co-ordination of incredible actors a cheerful and extremely original performance is concocted by means of improvisation, playing with dolls, objects and paper.

70 Hill Lane

For three days the ghost came visiting, devilish shrewd and capable to walk through walls. This mischievous spirit revealed himself to Phelim McDermott, in his parent's house at 70 Hill Lane, at the age of 15. Only Phelim and his best friend Karl saw this poltergeist who threw things all around him and whom the two boys nicknamed »Polty«. The ghost left and the memories of a haunted, spooky childhood world remained, those incredible events however not lacking the elements of truth at all.

Giulio Cesare (Julius Caesar)

Burnt earth or a torched theatre? A perpetual pedestal supporting ruler turned into shrines. Bewitching orations are blurring supremacy claims and hiding a meaningless void whose real voice is muffled. Words as a persuasive art – in propaganda, military an economic corruption and in the theatre.
