Sprünge über den Spalt (Leaps over the divide)

The term divisions allows multiple definitions. To begin with, the expectations, suggestions and differences of opinion evoked by the guest performance of euro-scene Leipzig, whose motto this year is »Divisions«, should be examined.

Dante, de l’enfer au paradis (Dante – From hell to paradise)

The French film director Thierry Thomas offers an introduction to this famous yet, at least outside of Italy, little read text in his documentation. He finds fascinating images for Dante’s funnel shaped hell and scenes between the Middle Ages and contemporary, living Florence.

Tragedia Endogonidia

The Socìetas Raffaello Sanzio belongs amongst the most radical representatives of »nuovo teatro« in Italy. Strongly marked by the influence of visual art, director Romeo Castellucci conceives impressive installation and sound spaces for his productions. »Tragedia Endogonidia« was developed in ten European cities from 2002-04 and is one of the most important works of the modern theatre in recent history. It relates Greek tragedy and its messages to our time and reality.

Tanz und moderne Technologien (Dance and modern technologies)

Frieder Weiss and Arthur Stäldi, members of the Berlin company LaborGras, will give the opportunity to get to know some of the latest interactive technologies. They approach dancers (professional and amateur dancers), singers, composers, performance and media artists, choreographers, computer scientists, lecturers and learners of all fields.

Solo live

The five opinionated dance solos that are elaborately linked together in this film were nominated at the competition »Das beste deutsche Tanzsolo« (»Best German Dance Solo«) within the euro-scene Leipzig 2005. The idea to this competition comes from the Belgian choreographer Alain Platel from Ghent.

Hell

Italian choreographer Emio Greco and Dutch dramaturgist Pieter C. Scholten are making their second guest appearance at euro-scene Leipzig, with a fast-paced and intoxicating dance piece. Based on Dante’s »The Divine Comedy« eight dancers explore imaginary places between heaven and hell.

1. Alchemik Halucynacji (Alchemic of Halluciantion) / 2.D-KOD-R

Choreographers Jacek Krawczyk and Joanna Czajkowska are among the best that the modern Polish dance scene has to offer. In the dance duet »Alchemik Halucynacji«, they show the split personality of a person. »D-KOD-R«, a dance quartet, looks at human communication.
