- Dance
Two dancers celebrate a modern ritual. Repeated movements slowly swell into a kind of trance; humans become robots. Competitiveness and profitability seem to be the only quantifiable factors in our society. But suddenly – an irritation, a short disturbance, an outbreak. »Hérétiques« (»Heretics«) can be understood as »people who violate the norms«. Heretic thoughts were life-threatening in the Middle Ages. Today, if you don’t submit to society, you quickly fall out of the fold. But progress is always tied to resistance against dogmas.
The mechanics of the movement are spurred on to produce unexpected emotions and disrupted or supported by the music, which was composed and is played live by the Argentinian pianist Lea Petra. Without a doubt, the dance piece’s originality lies in the synchronicity of high-level abstraction and philosophy.
Ayelen Parolin, born in 1976 in Buenos Aires, studied dance and choreography in her home city. Since 2000, she has been living and working in Brussels. She was dancing for numerous choreographers: among others, Mathilde Monnier, Alexandra Bachzetsis as well as Nicole Mossoux & Patrick Bonté, whose choreography »Nuit sur le monde« (»Night over the world«) brought her to euro-scene Leipzig 2009 as a dancer. Her pieces have been invited to many countries in Europe as well as to Israel and Argentina. In 2016, she received a scholarship from the Pina-Bausch-Foundation.
