Hotels are special places with a certain fascination. They are non-public spaces: not a private apartment, but rather a provisional home for a limited period. A maximum of two audience members is present per room. In each performance one dancer, performer, actor or musician presents his solo of about 12 minutes. This unique intimacy changes the perspective on the performance and intensifies our perception.

Each spectator acquires a package of three solo performances. He checks in at the reception and moves autonomously from one room to the next. Wandering through the hotel hallways between performances is part of the concept. Six protagonists play with the hotel room in a field of tension between intimacy and the public sphere.

Theater tanzSpeicher was founded in 2004 in Würzburg by Thomas K. Kopp and is the only theatre for contemporary dance in southern Germany. It is located in the Kulturspeicher Würzburg at the old port of the Main river. Kopp’s own company’s performances are the foundation for each season’s programme, which also features guest performances by national and international dance groups.

Thomas K. Kopp completed his education as a dancer and choreographer at the Iwanson International School of Contemporary Dance in Munich after having studied in New York and Los Angeles. He has been creating choreographies as the director of this company, whose members have changed over time, since 1996. His most recent pieces include »Alle Zeit der Welt« (»All the time in the world«, 2014), »8meterimquadrat« (»8squaremeters«, 2015) and »blind date« (2016).
