Panel discussion
This year, public theatre in Poland celebrates its 250th anniversary. Prior to this, theatre was only intended for members of the court in palaces. What role does Polish theatre play in European discourse? What are the relationships between independent theatres and the city and municipal theatres?
Polish directors such as Tadeusz Kantor, Jerzy Grotowski, Krystian Lupa, Krzysztof Warlikowski and Marta Górnicka are only some of the names that stand for a diverse theatre tradition and that have also conquered stages far beyond the borders of Poland. Some of them have also presented their work at euro‑scene Leipzig over the past twenty-five years. Over the course of the panel discussion, a glimpse into the artistic diversity and explosive political power of Polish theatre will be provided.
