Video kaleidoscope

In the 1980s, dance became a source of inspiration for the theatrical avant-garde. Its artificial movement vocabulary, choreographic spatial compositions and repetitive sequences transformed forms of expression, working methods and aesthetic positions.

»Transforming Acts« traces the fundamentally transformative interactions between dance and theatre. The multi-channel video kaleidoscope combines archival material from ground-breaking productions with current portraits and reflections from Pina Bausch, Laurent Chétouane, Jo Fabian, Jan Fabre, Johann Kresnik, Thomas Lehmen, Heiner Müller, Einar Schleef, Meg Stuart, Robert Wilson, VA Wölfl and The Wooster Group / Elizabeth LeCompte.

The project was created in collaboration between the scenographer, performer and director Penelope Wehrli and the theatre and cultural scholar Detlev Schneider. The installation functions according to a dynamic principle that allows audience members to come and go at any time.

The visit is possible at any time within the specified times.
