The dancer and choreographer Sylvia Camarda plays a leading role within the dance community of Luxembourg. She will present two different dance solos:

»Conscienza di terrore I« (»Conscience of terror I«) was inspired by the film »Taxi to the dark side« (2007) by Alex Gibney. The majority of people are sensitive to the voice of their conscience. This dance piece concentrates on those who can ignore this moral voice. Powerlessness and vulnerability often overwhelm soldiers at war, abused by power-hungry, unfeeling individuals controlled only by their instincts.

»Bolero« by Maurice Ravel is one of the most well-known works in music history. It premiered as a ballet in 1928 in Paris choreographed by Bronislava Nijinska and performed by Ida Rubinstein. Sylvia Camarda celebrates her own sacrificial rites as inspired by this fascinating composition in »Martyr«. As if in a trance, she redeems herself from all sins in a sacral ceremony and questions the notion of religious self-sacrifices.

Sylvia Camarda, born in 1978 in Luxembourg, studied dance in London and Cannes. She has danced with Koen Augustijnen, Ghent, the Cirque du Soleil in Montreal and in multiple pieces by Jan Fabre, Antwerp. She founded the company Missdeluxedanceco in 2003. She performed at euro‑scene Leipzig in 2009 with the duet »Conscienza di terrore II«.
