»Sound disturbance« – The sound is not, as it usually is, determined by the performers, but instead by the audience. »E.I.O.« is an utopian fiction of practical solutions, where everything proceeds according to the principle of freedom of decision: when entering, you can decide how much you want to pay and later you can decide whether you would like to be a spectator or performer.
As a participant, the spectator receives all of the tools for artistic expression. In doing so, there is only one rule: be practical. And whoever is chosen the best performer gets to take the admission fee of the corresponding spectator home with them.
Dragana Bulut, Maria Baroncea and Eduard Gabia number amongst the most promising choreographers of the next generation in Romania and Serbia. They received the Prix Jardin d’Europe, a European dance prize for young choreographers, during the 2010 iDANS Festival in Istanbul for »E.I.O.«.
Dragana Bulut, born in 1983 in Mostar, has developed her own choreographies since 2004 and has received multiple awards.
Maria Baroncea, born in 1979 in Bucharest, is a freelance choreographer and received her doctorate in 2002 from the Theatre and Film University in her native city. She has performed in numerous pieces.
Eduard Gabia, born in 1979 in Bucharest, has created numerous performances. He had conducted numerous guest performances in Europe and works with choreographers from different countries such as Karine Ponties and Charles Linehan. Gabia was a guest at euro-scene Leipzig in 2005 with his solo »Bonus«.
»›E.I.O.‹ received the prize for the way in which this performance with minimal resources and a great deal of ingenuity redefines the concept of work and the understanding of production – in art and in real life –, questioning creation, distribution and the value of art« (iDANS Festival, Istanbul, 20.09.2010).
