Six figures appear to have grown into a wall, a kind of living image; a bas-relief in clay. Slowly, the figures emerge from the background and become emotional, sensitive beings. They form each other’s support and burden, showing understanding and confusion, power and subjugation. However, their cohesion is not permanent and cracks appear in the apparent structure.

The three parts of »Nuit sur le monde« (»Night over the world«) have developed over two years and stand for past, present and future: »Noli me tangere« (»Don’t touch me«), »Ad mortem festinamus« (»We rush towards death«) and »Sola sub nocte« (»Alone in the night«). It is about the zones between life and death and about the futile search for real community in our highly developed society. Overtones define the dance piece, which is characterised by suggestive images and the intensive music of Victor Kissine, who was born in Leningrad in 1953 and has lived in Belgium since 1990.

Nicole Mossoux is a dancer and choreographer and Patrick Bonté, as a director, is frequently inspired by the visual arts. Both were born in Brussels in 1965 and they have worked together since 1985, creating over 22 productions and three films. In 2007, they were awarded the critics’ prize at the Mimos festival in Périgueux for the first part of »Nuit sur le monde«. At the euro-scene Leipzig have also been shown »Les dernières hallucinations de Lucas Cranach« (»Lucas Cranach’s last hallucinations«, 1995) and »Simonetta Vespucci« (2000) by the Compagnie Mossoux–Bonté.

»Desire, sensuality, exoticism, poetry and questions about the destiny of humanity can all be found in this piece … a confusing, disturbing, attractive world, hopeless and yet wonderfully open at the same time« (Jean-Marie Wynants, Le Soir, Brussels, 12.02.2009).
