Zwei Tanzstücke

Forlornness and estrangement, concealed and vague anxieties of our time determine the dance duet »Alchemik Halucynacji« (»Alchemist of hallucinations«), which is based on the poem cycle »Pan Cogito« (»Mister Cogito«, 1974) by Polish author Zbigniew Herbert (1924-98). Teatr Okazjonalny poetically demonstrates the inner division of a person; the feminine and the masculine sides of being.

The second piece, »D-KOD-R«, adapts the deficit hypothesis of British sociologist Basil Bernstein (1924-2000). He distinguishes between linguistic usage of classes that are outside of education and of the educated classes. The dance shows the function of movement in the first social communities and in the information society of today.

Teatr Okazjonalny (Occasional dance theatre) was founded in 1998 in the Polish resort of the Baltic Sea Sopot, by dancers and choreographers Joanna Czajkowska, who was born in Gdynia in 1974, and Jacek Krawczyk, who was born in Gdańsk in 1959. Since then, they have created over 20 productions including »Art Café« (2001), »Aromas« (2002) and »Viva la vida« (2004), with which they have made guest performances in Lithuania, Portugal, Czech Republic, Sweden, Romania, Belarus and Germany. In 2005, they were featured as »artists of the year« in the newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza Trójmiasto.
