Four-minute piece special

Play, fairground, film and »peepshow« – »It’s your film« is all of this, an extraordinary experience for every spectator. A kind of market stall as a theater chair and 240 seconds of a crime story as a feast for the eyes and the ears. Three-dimensional cinema and old theater tricks determine the happenings in a city, in the rain, in a café, during the night. It takes place in indoor and outdoor areas and leaves the one-man/woman audience in the protection of the darkness.

Peter Brook called this small, indescribable piece »fascinating and intoxicating.« »It isn’t the stage that is the magic box, but the auditorium. The theatre has turned itself inside out, but it is still theatre. And beautiful theatre it is, too« (Roland Meyer-Arlt, ›DIE ZEIT‹, 15.06.2000, Hamburg).

The experimental group Stan’s Cafe has its home in the industrial town of Birmingham and is radically different from traditional British speech theater. The pieces like »Simple Maths« (1997), »The Black Maze« and »Good and True« (both 2000) as well as »Lurid and Insane« (2001) are always worked out collectively and connect elements from movement, film, language and music. »It’s your film« has already enjoyed great success in festivals in Holland, France, the Czech Republic and Ireland. Finally, it was the hit of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August 2001.
