Frank and Katharina have been married for several years and they are now waiting for Frank’s brother and his wife. The ashes of Frank’s mother are supposed to be buried on the next day. The brother calls to say he won’t be coming because he wanted to see a football game in the hotel.

Katharina’s summary of marital life is »either I’m going to kill you or you’re going to kill me, or we will part ways or we’ll go on as before«. After his brother’s call, Frank suggests that they invite over Tomas and Jenna, the couple from the neighbouring flat, in order to avoid the danger of spending another evening alone together. Their conversation has to do with everyday problems. It turns into a argument at fever pitch and finally it escalates into a merciless battle of souls.

Lars Norén, born in 1944, is one of the most important and most-played dramatists in Scandinavia. He work includes volumes of poetry, novels, plays for television and approximately 40 pieces. Norén lives in Stockholm and has also been working as a director since 1993. He was appointed the theatre-manager of the Riksteatern Stockholm in 1998.

As every year, euro-scene invited the Schauspiel Leipzig to contribute a production to the festival programme. In the first years they preferably selected dance theatre productions, but topical drama critical of our times is taking this over more and more.
